Close call with the law

Post by AndrewT » Sun Dec 17, 2006 3:57 pm

Just got home about 15 mins ago. On the way home I got pulled over by a cop who was radaring people in one of the 80km/h sections of the freeway.
I was going 97km/h (same speed as everybody else).

Firstly he told me about my speed. Said that I got singled out because he got a good reading on me and I was in the lane closest to him (he can't pull people over on the other side).
Then he pointed out my rego sticker which is 12 months out of date.
Then he pointed out my drivers side guard which has come unstuck again and is abit loose at the bottom.
Popped the bonnet and he jiggled my intercooler, then jigged my battery (both were firm) - he had no comments at all. I thought he would at least comment on the untidy wiring I have around the battery for my thermo fans, I havn't had a chance to bundle it all into the box I bought yet. He also didn't comment about the Pod filter or the fact that the intercooler has a big sticker that says "SUBARU TURBO". I guess it looks factory??
No comments what-so-ever about anything else, lift kit or otherwise.

Anyways then he wanders back to his bike and comes back with all his little booklets and paperwork and starts writing stuff out.
I was expecting a fine for the rego sticker, a fine for speeding and a yellow sticker.

I left with a 50 buck fine for the rego sticker and thats it.
Happy happy :)
I think I'll go stick the new sticker on now!

you are so lucky,
didnt even cop the speeding ticket.

but yeh it does look "authentic subaru" engine wise, at least until a cop drives it.

Yeah, he walked up to my car from at least 40 metres back, twice! and never noticed the rear camber.

Been thinking of all the other really obvious things he never noticed too...
- Spottie wiring wrapped around the bullbar (one day i'll wire them up).
- No gearstick surround
- Very borderline tyres (Subarino's old ones)

While its not unusual for a cop to be nice it certainly isnt the norm when confronted with someone caught speeding.
