fudged transfer hub

Post by stamp_licker » Sat Dec 30, 2006 8:29 pm

Pulled the rear transfer off the auto and the hub that takes the load from the clutch packs has some nice grooves added to it.Looks like it had some wicked hp punching or at least clutch packs that gripped instantly not suprising the clutch packs went.Luckily i'm adding the vtd transfer.
Does the manual box suffer from something similar, like when you dump it somethings goner give in the transfer department? Please excuse my lack of manual understanding.

The manuals do have a problem with a similar thing in the later model ones but its a different setup to the non VTD autos

yeah daves write up is pretty funny, once its running sweet i'll give him the correct details.YES this is my new box[Scotts] got the transfer swapped,it ain't that hard to do,pulled and swapped front diff axles, thanxs to my old man and a jimmy bar.The rear feels very tight out of the car its looking good just need a bit more time to get it back in.Fingers crossed it'll be right for Bagara.

scotts car was making some serious HP near the end there. The center coupling was stuffed for quite a while..

Dane aafter looking at the hub and drum i reckon the the clutch packs wouldn't of been able to grip due to the new grooves they were running in holding them open. You gotter see the coupling FUBAR
