help, steering pull?

Post by Soobeit » Tue Dec 26, 2006 10:00 pm

Brumby pulls to left on acceleration, left cv boot needs replacing but only went recently, left wheel slight wobble when pulling on it. read a post a while ago where someone knew the problem but cant find it now. is it steering link, CV, wheel bearing or something else?

What way are u pulling the wheel when it wobbles?

Get the wheel off the ground... grip either side and it wobbles then it is likely to be rack.... if it does it top to bottom at all it is likely to be wheel bearings.

But as suggested... check the hub nuts.

looks to be the rack, no movement pulling top and bottom, only movement in the wheel side to side and can see the steering arm with movement in and out. what do I have to do to fix it, is it a bit job?

check that its not the tie rod end on the steering rack...save u money instead of replacing the whole rack, that was what was causing the play in my steering

edit: i will reword it...the ball joint on the steering rack to tie rod...excuse my primitave explinations first time round....

all good, replaced left rack end and had a steering alignment done. the pulling has gone and steering is toit again! just one Q? can ya f@$% the front drive to wheels when you pull a drive shaft out of the gear box to change CV boots. Gear box also seems to have excessive wind noise in reverse when foot on clutch and car rolling? didnt seem to have it before. oil problem maybe?
