EJ25 vs EJ22

Post by Tim82 » Tue Nov 15, 2005 5:28 pm

just wondering if anyone knows if there are differences in the dimensions of an EJ25 and an EJ22.

this would be going in to an MY so would the conversion be similar to an EJ22 like same engine mount positions, same adaptor plate size and similar clutch setup?

if anyone knows about these questions id like to hear about it

Cheers Tim

Ej25 is bigger and wont fit in an MY with out some major cutting. Chassy rails need to be cut more than i would be comfortable with.

Do yourself a favour and go with a ej22... fits straight in and even lines up with the engine mount holes on the crossmember. Im not sure what sorta power your after but i have an ej22 in mine and it's thrashing the rest of my runnnig gear.

Thanks Subarino

thats set me in the right direction then, was only thinking of EJ25 cause one was selling fairly cheap. ill stick with the EJ22 as it seems to be tried and tested fairly well.

ill just have to keep looking for a decent priced EJ22!!

Seams to be a few ej22s getting sold and bought lately due to people doing ej20T conversions in there ej22 Libs.

If you were doing the conversion in a L series i would have said the ej25 but hands down the ej22 is the best for an MY.

ive been planning to do this for the last year or something, but finish uni next friday so will have some spare time then.
