Bad Flat Spot

Post by Brumby Boy » Mon Nov 27, 2006 5:23 pm

Ok over the last few weeks my brumby has been developing a very bad flat spot. it seems to be between 60 to 80km/h regardless of throttle position except below 1/4 throttle. if i accelerate very gently it dosnt seem to be as bad. has gotten worse since i WAS using ethanole but have now gone back to regular unleaded approx 4 tanks and it is still getting worse. i think it may be the ethanol has eaten the rubbers in the carb and or the fuel filters all need replacing. wat do you all think?

Cheers,
Turtle

The ehtanol may have dislodged some crap hiding in the carb and it is now partially blocking a jet now. If you dont remember how old your fuel filter is you should consider replacing it anyway. Spray some carb cleaner down the throat to clean it up other wise it pull the top off the carb and see whats going on.

Replace your pumper valve. It is the thing that pokes out of the top of the carb and is connected to the throttle by a linkage. Gasmiser do a cheap replacement.
If it can't be cut, welded or re-machined, you probably don't need it.

I read somewhere to (with the engine running) spray aerostart or WD40 or something around your vacuum hoses, not on them, just let it vapourise near them, if your revs change than a hose near there has a vacuum leak.
