EJ20 turbo + adaptor plate

Post by AndrewT » Thu Nov 09, 2006 10:12 am

Approx 3 years ago I helped out on an EJ20G conversion to a mates L series wagon. An adaptor plate was used to the stock L series driveline (with a VERY heavy clutch pressure plate). He moved to Melbourne and took the car with him.
His younger brother just bought the car and had it shipped over here to Perth, I just went over and checked it out again last night (its unlicenced so needs to pass the pits here) - had my first spin in it round the block. Let me just say - frontwheel drive + EJ20turbo = crazy sh_t!!

He took off in first gear and the steering wheel was all over the place, then took it easier in 2nd, then 3rd gear taking it easy (or so we thought)... about 3000rpm it completely broke traction again. This was without even clutching it or anything.

Surprisingly the L series gearbox is still working after this amount of time, although most gears wine pretty loudly.

Can't wait to see how it goes offroad!

Sound WILD... can not wait to see how it passes rego.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).
