Hatchie.. Snorkel and air box done.

Post by SuBaRiNo » Tue Oct 24, 2006 12:04 am

On the weekend i just finished installing the air box... completing the snorkel install to the hatch.

Snorkel is from a Hilux... air box is off a 94 Daihatsu Feroza which has obviously been modified with bigger inlets and outlets.

This air box fits great although it was a bit of work to get it how i wanted it. I also have the option of simply removing the front of the air box if i wanted to receive the air from the engine bay and not from the snorkel.

There was some suggestions that i might notice some sort of lag with the engine due to the extended air piping but i honestly can not notice a difference.

This in no way means i want to test it out... after losing over $3000 in replacaing water damaged parts from getting stuck in water im not stupid in thinking the electrics will still hold up to flooding... it's more of an insurance policy.

That's bloody awesome dave!

Your creativity and the ability to see the job through has created another piece to the jigsaw of the coupe, well done and keep up the good work.

Snorkel was $380... air box was $80... and to modify the air pipe to go to the opposite side of the car cost about $30... ohh and i guess the pod filter and the pod adaptor ontop of that.

Sounds expensive now that i add it up.. spaced over time it's not too bad though... no more than $500.

yeah it did... had to to make it easier to fit... Would have been a lot easier to install if the parts were seperate i think... was a bit of a squeaze to get the angles right. Thanks again Vidler for doing the welding on it.

NO its to submerge the car again and see if the new items have made any differance.
Toyota 105 Series LandCruiser (that nobody on here wants to really hear about).
RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

Hatch is not THAT small, and its not like you use the back seat atm. I know its not optional but at least you'll be able to drag it around.
