new car,a few probs

Post by subelover » Wed Oct 18, 2006 7:40 am

hi all, just brought a 1986 ea82t leone sedan auto....few things gotta fix...1986 flapper type ea82t in a leone sedan just a few things...on cold start up its ok 9/10 times but there is times where it will take 2 or 3 starts to get it running...i was thinking coolant temp sensor cause after a drive when hot its a pain in the bum hard to start too!!! any ideas?
and secondly i heard/read bout the difference between injectors in mpfi vs turbo....blue top on the turbo injector...i had a quick look and i have all turbo injectors except 1...the no 1 cylinder aswell! could that maybe be causing the running and idling probs? and lastly the transmission wont select 1st gear, it will manual shifting but i dont wont to do that there is kickdown but takes a sec or 2...i can live with the trans probs thats not what i wanna fix this idle and start prob...i rekon coolant temp sensor and then get a turbo injector aswell and go from there any input much appreciated guys cheers BEN

NO NO, they are definately red ring, as I had N/A grey (blue?) originally, and changing over made a huge difference. See heaps on manifolds in a wrecker from import turbo engines.

Either way your injectors should all match... Also im yet to hear an ea82T that i would say idles smoothly.

Subanator has had a lot to do with injector swapping lately... it might pay to send him a PM and pick his brain about a few things.

These are blue/grey, sorry. There is a red bit on them so I wasn't going completely nuts. (here is my handle , here is my spout)
They came from a leone turbo, full specs, Adam's car in fact.
They are on the way, dropped at johnnies tonight by East Coast Freight.
Good luck with them.

ea82 mpfi has a grey ring under the hose and turbo has a red/orange ring, my bet it to get the other injectors cleaned before you put them in doesnt cost much and is peace of mind and the cold//hot start prob could be a number of things, the ea82 engine loom plugs(ie coolant temp afm tps injectors) get water in them so pull them all off and masure they are not coroded and spray some inox in them, helped on mine! change your plugs and check under you dizzy cap.

hope that helps!!

hi guys done a few things to the car last week to improve the idle and bad start up, checked the coolant temp sensor at cold/ hot start and no change in resistance so got a new 1 of them $25, then i checked the aux air by-pass valve.....the connector was dicky so i replaced that, still not perfect but a damn site better then when i first got the car and then today i was havin a play and accidently lent on the intake pipe ( the one after the air flow meter and befor the turbo) when the car was idling rough and then bang idles smoother...hmm i think then pulled the intake boot off to have a look and its absolutely stuffed torn and ripped everywhere and i thought that the bugger is suckin air after the air flow meter and stuffin the mixture and idle etc...put a new one on and see how i go...i have the new injectors ready to go (ta MATT) but ill try this first anyway just lettin u know how its going cheers BEN
