Pic of RX Turbo front sway bar wanted.

Post by flat04 » Tue Oct 03, 2006 5:06 pm

Hi All,

My rally car hasn't ever had a front sway bar installed and I'm wanting to test it with one on there. Can anyone take a pic under their RX Turbo for me to illustrate the mount location and any links?

That would be greatly appreciated, we have some newer cars to catch!!

Andrew

I have no pics of mine however its just a basic 1. Its just 2 welded brackets on the strut towers (kinda like an upside down L on the top inside of the tower) and that has a piece of bar that bolts to it. Does this make scene?

RX Touring Wagon - fitted out for 4WDing (currently collecting dust).
RX Project - will be road only at this stage (and currently taking way to long to finish).

Thanks Jaffa, was wondering where the mounts were on the arms but as my struts aren't factory then it's no surprise I couldn't find them.

Anyone got any pics?

RX turbo's should have a sway bar fitted from factory. Standard L series wagons do aswell, it mounts on the front control arms. Jaffa are you talking about a strut brace?

Every Oz delivered L had a front swaybar.

How come your rally car never had one, I find that extremely strange?
Rally car suspension is generally softer (but stronger) than track cars & need the swaybar to help prevent roll.
Well that's my theory anyway.

What's the diameter, Chris?
I've got both an 88 Oz Tourer & an 87 RX Turbo front bars here to compare against (& they don't look that different though I haven't measured them)
I think the Vortex turbo ones are slightly bigger (but still not big enough for my liking), but I'll be getting a custom one mde when funds allow (rear too)

will let you know in a few days. I'm thinking 19mm but I swear the RX one I had in the sedan was bigger.
