outback struts ina liberty

Post by grytvikken » Wed Sep 27, 2006 11:27 pm

i see that putting outback struts into a liberty is a popular move. why is that the case , is there anything wrong with the standard lib struts. why are the outbacks so good for this model car.

They give you 33mm of lift as well as the chance to fit taller tyres due to the spring base plate being higher.

after about 25" tyres your rear struts will hit the tyres in most cases.

people have played with all sorts of combinations over the years to get extra height / tyre clearance, the early outback struts are definately the best option

What has already been said. They are the best setup over many different combos.

33 metres of lift hey, that would give quite some ground clearance

I have been wondering the same thing. The Gen 3 rears are a totally different looking strut. I have plans of taking the struts from our Gen 3 and trying them one day just to see what has to be done.

use gen2 (96 - 98) outback struts and springs front and rear.

also you want to get your hands on the gen2 outback trailing arm mounts. These are $50 new from subaru and will put your rear wheel back where its supposed to be in the arch.

I have seen Gen3 front struts used with AWD liberty springs. The rears would take some work though
