112 works on any mobile even keylocked or without a sim as long as there's reception, it's 000 for mobiles and for emergencies only.

Somehow I dont think getting bogged or a breakdown is an emergency, so credit is a good idea.

Here's a good idea http://www.brawn4x4.com.au/ but being a full size winch, they are pretty heavy.

baah, if its the first thing for you, your pretty much guaranteed to break down where theres no phone coverage, or else you never venture far afield.

my list:
timing belts
a spark plug
electrical wire
some fencing wire
cable ties
stop leak putty...hmm must get some new
gaffa tape
some fuel hose
radiator hose
cv boots +grease
1litre oil
some bolts(for lift componets)
tyre repair kit
inner tubes
22m rope and more rope

tools:
utility knife
10,12,14,17,19,22mm sockets
ring spanner 8,10,12,14,17mm
2kg persuader
rubber mallet
short bar
pliers/screw drivers
pin punches (for DOJs)
24" shifter for axle nut
jack (or 2!!)
hardwood stand for jack
tyre pliers
compressor
spade
AXE
hand winch..hmm need a new one
Gloves
First Aid gear
Fire extinguisher
SOAP
paper towels
2sets battery jumper leads
dual battery
welding rods/welding glass.

something I should do about is spare ECU + EFI fuel pump......
I know that with a carby, if fuel pump fails you can jerry rig a gravity feed....thats just not applicable anymore with efi!

well, thats the comprehensive list for extended, remote area touring, - i'm sure i missed some more things..........

Oh one more thing......

BRAIN...use it, don't panic

Hardest part with a winch is working out a way of mounting it and a place to mount it that is STRONG.... haven't really seen anywhere on a subi i would really trust with a winch.
