new to this game, l series

hi all im new here and just hve a few general questions. am contemplating buying a l series wagon for general touring and getting to fishing spots (dbl island point and the like). what modifications would be needed to set this car up for this in regards to lift kits and tires sizes whatnot. also who would be best to do this in the wide bay area if there are any or do i have to travel to bisbane.

If your looking to do it yourself and just need advice, Ask away, "what hasn't been done to a Suby by someone here, isn't worth doing!"

For just a quick trip up the beach a lift kit is not really neccessary but if the sand is soft or you have a big tide a lift kit in is a really nice thing to have as you can then put larger rims and tyres on to make travelling a hell of a lot easier. Another good thing to do is to instal an LS Diff into the rear which will make you get even further with less hassle.

After those few mods then you could think of going to a turbo EA motor or to a later model EJ22 engine.

Im in tewantin and run a pretty stock standard 91 l series subi. and mainly do beach work with it, eg DI Point/rainbow beach/ noosa north shore etc.

The only mods Ive done is to put 14" wheels and tyres on and find it pretty good that way.Ive got 185/75 profile tyres on the wheels and have found that they will rub the top of the front wheel guards on hard bumps. Quite a number of the people here seem to run 185/70s without lift kits and dont seem to have this problem
I have since folded the inside lip of the guard up flat against the inside of the guard and managed to pull the edge out a little bit without creasing the guard.seems to have resolved the problem. A lift kit would definitely help particularly if your suspension is sagging or becoming soft.
