question on EA82T into MY
(isnt the MY brumby FT 4wd? im talkin about using all the stuff from that, and using the liberty shafts to fit into the EJ20.) quote
Don't think it has full time 4WD, most have selectable 4WD.
The driveshafts don't go to the engine, they go to the gearbox.
You can use the standard drive train if you make an adapter, but there is no way this option will survive the increase in power
Hope that helped

There are 5 speed EA82 fulltime boxes, they are very rare though. These would bolt to the EA81 using the EA82 clutch and flywheel.
EA and EJ gearboxes really aren't hugely interchangeable. An EA motor running an EJ gearbox is something I've not ever heard of. A lot of guys run the EA82 gearboxes with EJ motors, but this usually results in too weak a clutch combo for the EJ turbo motors.
Ultimately if your aim is for a lowered EJ20G powered MY wagon you should save and do the whole Legacy RS engine / gearbox conversion in one hit rather than half / halving it.

You really do want a fulltime AWD EJ box behind an EJ20G. I have my doubts that the part time box would stand up to the motor for a long time, and the part time boxes really are more suited to offroaders.
Tyre smoke is fun, there's no doubt about that. Problem is, driving a Subaru you're either going to get it from the wrong wheels or not at all.
A part time box in 2WD is as good as a FWD box as far as traction is concerned. Torque steer isn't fun and you'd probably find the car would spit axles and crack the transmission casing if you were putting serious power through it....

Best option is of course to buy a complete front cut as you'll get everything you need including all the little bits.
Basically you'll need:
Engine
Wiring Loom, Computer and all sensors/switches
Gearbox
Liberty inner CV joints (these mate to 2WD MY axles too, so you may be up for a pair of them)
Hydraulic clutch system
There would be additional costs over and above a front cut in the conversion. These would include:
Custom Tailshaft (120mm longer than 4wd MY)
Fuel system, this includes pump (we usually use bosch 070 VL pump) surge tank and new high pressure lines
Radiator, go twin core with MY tanks and enlarged outlets. On a stock height car you'll want the outlets pointed towards the motor's inlets
There's a lot more to it when you get to the building stage, remember you need the subframe mods, firewall mods (for the clutch), clutch pedal mod, custom gearbox crossmember, custom linkage shortening, the list goes on.
