removing rubber door strips(l-series)

hi all,

i was just wondering how to remove the black rubber door strips on a L-series?

i have a nice bit of rust spreading from under there and just want to kill it before it gets too bad!

I don't know if there is a proper way, but I simply leaver them very gently and slowly, starting with a small and thin screwdriver and progressing to a larger one. If you heat them for a moment with a hair dryer first it's a bit easier.
Monster Subaru sold to a good home!! Still a Subaru owner. Will try stay in the Ausubaru loop. Sorry :cool:

if your remove the trim from the internal panels (doors, boot) there are a series of clips that need to be squeezed to remove the strips

make sure that they are not weatherd or broken also from the process as i have had them off before to go off road and neva see them again :rolleyes:

that is for the rubber window weather strips...

the rubber strips in the middle are only glued on.
Heat gun (only if your not worried about the paint!) and very very sharp chisel
Once you get them off and cleaned up, lay them flat with a heavy block on top, they take ages for the curve from getting it off to wear off.

I was thinking...strip internals off door and apply a heat gun to the inside of door skin to soften the double sided goo strip ..might be more effective

Lapsed & Fed-sub, you're both right.

85-87 rubbing strips are held on with double sided tape (or glue if they've been replaced)
88-94 are clipped onto the door via clips.

For early models, follow Mudrat's instructions
For late models, follow Lapsed instructions
