Brumby ignition keys.

Post by Gazza01 » Tue Sep 01, 2015 10:28 am

I have about 4 Ignition locks and door locks. NO KEYS. I often think about tossing them in the bin. Does anyone know if there are any way of finding a number on these lock with the hope of getting keys cut at a locksmith.

Dunno about a number. Usually the vin on the vehicle can get an original set of keys - well, maybe not for these older subi's.

A good locksmith should be able to pull them apart and make a set of keys that match. Probably the best way to go but could be exxy :(

Or contact Frog for more details regarding new keys and serial numbers etc

Cheers

It costs about $60 dollars to make a key for an ignition from what I remember.

About 110 dollars on Ebay for a new aftermarket barrel and door locks.

Be careful of the link that TOONGA sent you GAZZA01, that seller on ebay does not have any of the post 1985 locks for Brumby (already asked them some months ago)

Subaru spare parts will sell you a new ignition lock and keys, I bought one for a previous 89 Brumby and it was a true joy to not have to fiddle about with the key each time I wanted to start the car (especially if it stalled in traffic)

The link I posted was for a price reference only, as Gazza did ask if it would be worth getting keys made by a locksmith.
