Touring wagon vs normal model
I having been contemplating switching all the good stuff exhaust, bullbar, blue touring wagon carpet, seats map reading lights and boot lights and floor vents into a nice red 87 Touring wagon my GL is a 91 model. Other than the above items and the tacho and other than space from the raised roof what other features would a touring wagon of this year have that mine wouldn't? both are carby 3 speed automatic models.

Door trims different, drivers seat has adjustable height, rear seats have headrests. Electric mirrors? - your car may already have. Glovebox illumination maybe.
I had a JDM 'GT' touring wagon for parts that had factory cruise.

So if I've read your original post correctly you've got access to an '87 touring wagon that you want the good parts from for your '91 DL (base model) wagon?
If the '87 has blue carpet it is most likely the series II version. It seems that the year 1987 was the crossover of the series I and series II L series. Differences: Grille, dash surround - headlight and wiper switches are on the dashboard for a series I and on the steering column for the series II; instrument cluster lights are orange for series I and green for series II.
Exterior rear view mirrors are mounted on the door for the series I BELOW the window, in the series II they're mounted from a triangle above the window line of the door at the forward most point of the door, it actually changes the shape of the window between the two series.
Interior colours are different too. The blue is darker in the series I than the series II. Series I came in brown as well, typically with a red exterior.
Gearboxes, the dual ranges in particular seemed to be mainly 3.9 final (diff) ratio. The MPFI in the series I is a flapper type AFM and a hotwire AFM in the series II. This equates to a three plug ECU in the series I and a four plug in the series II.
And of course between all year models there are various wiring differences and emissions differences too.
Power windows will fit in too. The wiring is a separate system "overlaid" over the required wiring for lights/ECU etc etc. I'm not 100% sure if the DL wiring has the plug for power to the system but this wouldn't be difficult to retro fit to avoid a complete whole vehicle rewire (not as hairy as you'd think!)
Cheers

how much did the AP60 set you back? interior is dark grey it is one of the rare automatic 4wd's with the button on the side of the dash that is meant to engage with brakes, acceleration and wipers. its in rough shape I scored the wheel carrier off it for 150 thinking of going back for the tacho, the king springs it has, spare set of 14s have been very tempted at the power windows but I find with most cars they are problematic and play up.

About $250 - around the same as the cost of the "cheapest" fine in vic from what I understand.FALCONCONVERTTOSUBARU wrote:how much did the AP60 set you back?
The rarity I think is the interior colour, if it's the darker grey type. AFAIK that button is standard on the auto. My one (Sheldon) had it when it was auto.FALCONCONVERTTOSUBARU wrote:interior is dark grey it is one of the rare automatic 4wd's with the button on the side of the dash that is meant to engage with brakes, acceleration and wipers. its in rough shape I scored the wheel carrier off it for 150 thinking of going back for the tacho, the king springs it has, spare set of 14s have been very tempted at the power windows but I find with most cars they are problematic and play up.
