tarp/tonneau/torneau bar fixing point 'fix'

That lil piece of aluminium angle for snap clipping the tarp to the rear window line - deffo not a Subaru accessory - otherwise a better fixing point would have been provided. Looks like they were likely dealer fit options or aftermarket and slapped in place with a screw or rivet depending on decision made by installer.

Mine has pulled its rivets more than once, another has pulled its screw, bigger screw did not work for long at all.

Curious to know what others have done - other than make own hardtop

I am thinking just drill right through into cabin, fit up a pretty stainless steel allen head bolt and a nyloc to create a more robust anchor in fitting with Fuji quality, then angle, then another nyloc. Just don't think I want to get so involved to remove trim to hide head of bolt inside under trim .....

Yeah - definitely not original ( Brumby never came with a cover from factory ), hence all manner of bodgy jobs ...

Mine has the angle fixed to the vertical bars & tie down hooks riveted to body ...



I had thought of shortening the window by 3-4 inch's along the bottom ( can't see anything out of it anyway ) and building in a 'shelf' out of aluminium, incorporating a roll bar and hard cover ( sketches to come when I get round to it ) ...

Aluminium? Wouldn't have thought that would last very long. Mine is steel angle, bolted to the vertical bars and to the tub sides about 1/3rd the way up the glass. Makes for a very nice sloped cover that also drains water really well, and the whole thing is rock solid I couldn't see it falling off. Mine looks alot like Bantum's pic above except I have the silver "lift the dot" buttons all the way around the front end.

ah, the differences .....my first Brumby is much the same, riveted to the back wall, maybe just through the window rubber as well - maybe as an anti rattle thing ?

OK, done it, one side, the other side screw tightened up as I tried to drill it out. It certainly wasn't comung undone with a screwdriver.

My aluminium angle strip has the press studs on it, same as inside each side at front before the elastic loops start. The angle also has cut outs for the window bars - I do the delete thing with these window bars

The screw one side, rivet for the left, goes through the rear screen rubber about 4 mm in from the edge. I simply hit it with a 6.5mm drill, shoved in the high tensile 40mm long M6 allen head bolts from the inside - 5 minute job for one side.

Nice and firm now . Happy

They were not a "Factory" fitted item but they were a Dealer offered option and most of them came from a supplier in Victoria via a deal done with Subaru Australia. These came as a complete kit with all the bits and bobs and they did have the aluminium angle piece (with press stud clips prefitted) that was to be secured across the rear window.

For any replacement covers, there is a mob in Qld that do a true copy and fit without any mods for around $250 plus postage.
