Last november I flew to Bendigo and drove this car home to Adelaide. I have not done too much with in since, just some basic maintenance and repairs. I also got some new wheels and a sun visor.
It has an EA81 engine, dual range 4 speed manual, aluminium bumpers, UHF radio and custom exhaust.
Future upgrades might include a Weber 32/36 and a 2" lift.

This weekend I put a weber 32/36 on my car

Though the adaptor plate I got was for an EA81 engine, apparently 1984 EA81s have a large hole on the manifold, like the EA82, so I couldn't use it. I did have a home made adaptor that I had found in the junk yard though. It needed a lot for work to fit, but it got there in the end. Only problem is that it is too low and the choke ends up on the distributor. I temporarily removed the choke and blocked up the hole on carb body. I am waiting on a better adaptor from Sprint and that along with the spacer should make it high enough.
The return spring fit nicely here, connected to something underneath

Got it running pretty good. Still need to connect the PCV hoses to something and tidy things up, a job for next weekend.

I have worked out how to make the pictures smaller now.
I have the correct adapter plate now and the choke is working. All the vacuum hoses are gone now, even the vac advance (the diaphragm was leaking and set the car on fire and I have not found a new one that doesn't leak). It runs great though, it only can't do full throttle.
I plan to adapt the stock air box to fit onto the weber but for now I have sorted out the PCV.
I have not been able to find a lift kit yet, but I will keep looking.
I might sell those alloy wheels and get steel wheels, they don't sit on the hub all the way and they stick out quite far.

Thanks. As much as I would like one, I can't give up the bumper. It is actually for an L, you can see it doesn't sit quite flush with the tail lights.henpecked wrote:Looking good , still Very envious of the the rear bumper, would hand over a 2" lift kit for that in a heartbeat

It was my first, and it was not easy but not too hard. All went well on the front, except the steering shaft didn't fit so I had to make something up for that.
The rear was fine but the bolts took hours to get out. By the time they were out, I was out of time so I put them back in and did the rear the next weekend. I managed not to strip any though.
The front brake lines didn't need changing, and I just removed one of the brackets on the rear so the rear lines could reach further.
I put a spacer in the 4WD lever linkage so that I can put it in reverse, but I still need to take it out of 4WD before I can select reverse so I will work something out for that later.
Yesterday I got my first set of brand new wheels ever:
They are from Dynamic, but they seem pretty much the same as Speedy except the inner stripe is black. I am not sure if Speedy still make wheels with this PCD.Cliff R wrote:Any idea on the offset of these new rims and are they 14x6"

They are 14x6 and the box says the offset is 14.
