Post by wrx_nut » Wed Jun 28, 2006 12:12 pm

wheres the best place to tap in a boost gauge on an ea82t?

a T piece joing should do the trick but where abouts is the best spot?

on the back of the intake. if you have a non FT4wd one there is a blanked off plug there that is perfect for a boost pressure take off.

my bad. the FT4wd box takes its vacuum from that point. in a PT4wd car that nipple is unused. its located on the very top of the intake before it goes to the hose clamps and pipe back to the turbo.

take a pick of your engine top on and I'll show you where it is exactly.

I'm not sure, not ever having owned an EA82T but there's a similar sounding plug on the EJ20G manifold that is 10x1 metric.

Best bet is to undo the plug and take it as a sample to Enzed or similar. The guys there will match it up easy enough.

Jaffa, your white RX is plumbed like this, seen some sort of adaptor on it.
Thanks Tim, will find out tomorrow.

I have found now it is a 1/8 BSP thread, not metric as first thought for the port mentioned above. Now have boost guage :D

My boost is stock 7 psi, I am going to leave it that way until my other problem is sorted with it running too lean (measured as low as 16:1 :( )

Jaffa I don't know what you're talking about.... what did I spot (apart from water in #3's injector plug :P)

That sounds almost problematic Roger. Is the fuel pressure low perhaps? How did you measure the AFR?

I got to the end of my patience afetr spending over 2 months faultfinding it.
It is in the hand of "Tim" at Sic Em Rex at the moment. So far a corrupt AF signal to ECU, getting a 4 plug Turbo ECU for it, as the one in it is a N/A one.
Will post details later in my thread in troubleshooting when I get it back.

Indicated in the pic. Ignore my choice of line, it is temporary until I can get a small vac line fitting. I substituted a 1/8 - 1/4 high pressure polythene tube and stepped down to suit hose. (Industrial)

Plug would have 10mm socket head, thread for fitting is 1/8 BSP, not metric as first thought.
Cheers Roger.

The screw above the arrow is the Idle adjustment, another screw found on the base (I think) of a solenoid to the left in the photo is the High Idle adjustment for revs to pick up when A/C is on.

Yeah the screw for the AC idle up is accessed from the rear of the solonoid. If you dont get much idle adjustment from the Idle adjuster you may need to pull the plenum off and blow it out with compressed air, i had this problem with dads and found a big chunk of carbon in there.
