yep, I went out to the garage and did have it wrong...now right.
Hoping soon to have a video of the start up. Got the loom, also do the under the trike stuff hook up fuel pump hoses.
Lots of preparation made things easy.

Tweetys drivers side is different to normal Subaru drivers side though ain't it ?
OK, you have a 4 plug style dizzy with the disc - does your ECU have 4 plugs then Tony ?
It would be a bit like any efi that runs a dizzy for spark distribution only - EL Falcon where a few wires are bridged, revs come up, set timing to a fixed number, then ECU pulls idle down, controls it and timing from then on. Never need to touch it once set up correctly

yeh dizzy for spark dist only me thinks is correct. drivers side is pass side with trike, took that into account. Yeh when I tagged the leads I did two things wrong....took the leads as clockwise on the dizzy and thought number 2 cyl was behind number 1. couldnt easily see the number and assumed. got it right now.
1,3,4,2 anti clockwise.
Tony

yeh got it right 1324 anti clockwise, just checked again.
the high pressure fuel pump has a input from the tank male about 1/2 or 7/16 and the outlet of the tank is about 5/16. So the plan is to seek out a connector that fits both. Using mostly the larger hose and the connector near the tank so less likely to starve for fuel. Really dont want to change the elbow on the tank.

Got just a little sidetracked.
Bought a sender switch for my radiator. The kick in on the digital unit packed up so had a manual switch. Didnt like that idea at all....idling at the lights and up goes the temp till the truck reversing horn comes on and get double the attention.
So simply unscrew the old brass plug right??? wrong!! the ends of the Alfa radiator are plastic. In the old days if they were alloy or brass its a simple proceedure but a brass plug in a plastic base means it has a nut on the other side and often (as it was in this case) was rock solid so the plug just spun around. In the end the only way to get it out was to crack the plastic casing. Damn!
So the radiator has to be handed in to a joint in Benalla today with the switch for repair.
Back to the SPFI. Well decided to bite the bullet and get the hoses sorted correctly between the tank and the new pump. So all that is done and hose clamped up fully to give me piece of mind.
The loom is in position now. The MAF, Dizzy coil leads all connected. Spent fair bit of time mounting the auto kick down switch on the throttle. Debbie finished modifying the waterproof bag that covers the eCU with a sleeve that will run along the loom a few inches that will be sealed with a electrical tie.
Now I have to connect up all the connections. A few will take timw like the lead to the starter wire that will have to be found in the trike loom (wonder if I can simply wire it to the starter???) O2 sensor wire etc. Looks a mess ATM but looks are decieving. Taking time off work end next week if it isnt done by then.

Got the loom in situ and one wire to go- the fuel pump wire that needs to go to the hot on and start lead from the ignition switch. then it should be ready for start up. for only a few seconds- the radiator is out for repairs.

Awesome. Don't you have a little motor bike radiator you could hook up just to run it for a bit to see how he's purrs?Tweety wrote:Got the loom in situ and one wire to go- the fuel pump wire that needs to go to the hot on and start lead from the ignition switch. then it should be ready for start up. for only a few seconds- the radiator is out for repairs.

When Scott and I get the engine kicking eager to start out comes the video lol.
Wont be using the Sc12 if I ever do boost it. would be a sprintex compact unit blow through. I only require a little more output than the stock EA81 with weber that I had about 18 months ago. I'll be happy with that plus good economy.

AJCMbrown...no it wasnt me. didnt have a roof eh. that would be a mate Paul Spokes from Holbrook. he has the same panther trike same colour no roof. Mine is the only roof of its kind.
Next year sometime Jonno- reco engine top to bottom with SPFI compression. That will complete stage 2 of my 3 stage plan (first stage SPFI) 3rd stage will be cosmetic (new screen, bit of chrome like the exhaust ends, new sunroof) and yeh 4th satge a spare VW auto tranny seek and reco.
I actually do want to get to a light tinkering stage and polish... no mods.
Recall the series "married with children"? the father owned a beloved dodge- his pride and joy. He said how he'd get buried with it. His wife drove him up the wall. So she came in one day- "dear...there is a big hole in our back yard". "yeh he said...going to bury my Dodge with me in it when I die". She replied "but you are not dead yet dear" Yeh, I know, but they way you drive me nuts...I soon will be"....lol then he found out the car was becoming a rare vintage model so he filled in the hole...next thing you know his car went missing from the garage after his wife went shopping. They reported it missing. He cried for days. then the cops came and told him they found his car. Turns out his garage is on a hill and he left the handbrake off. It rolled down the driveway and up hill into the garage opposite. He kind of reminds me of myself.
Once I owned a Renault Dauphine. A rear engine 1960 car. It had straps under each rear axle so if you corners too hard it lifted the inside wheel off the ground. Me and a mate took these straps off. Then at a new estate (no houses) on new tar we tried to roll the car. faster and faster we went then as fast around 90 degree bends as we could to try and roll it. Never could roll it. The inside wheel would tuck itself under the sump so the wheel was almost horizontal then flip the body straight again. The next day we cut off the roof to resemble a rough convertible. Reversed it down the driveway and when it hit the gutter the whole car collapsed. fun eh

Disconnect the plug to the injector, turn ignition on to prime fuel pump and with 2 wires hooked up to the battery, manually apply power to the injector, you should hear it click and spray fuel. This will confirm that its working.
Usually injectors that have sat for a while get gummed up with stale fuel
