Sigma seats in brumby

Post by MuZ » Mon Jul 01, 2013 6:35 pm

So the seats in my brumby had all but no padding left in them so I made the decision to upgrade to a more comfortable set.

After measuring the seat base width of 405mm between centers I made a trip to the wreckers with the intent of finding a set of seats with a similar base width, reckoning I could drill new holes to match the brumby rails (after removing the origanals) and secure them with nuts and bolts

I eventually found a set of GK Sigma seats that were about the right size, in good condition and cost me all of 50 rods.

So when I got home I pulled the brumby seats out, removed the rails from both sets of seats and went about tring to line up the brumby rails on the sigma seat and to my suprise found they bolted straight on, nil modification necessary. I was even more surprised when they bolted straight back into the brumby.

The only thing I end up changing was using M10 nuts as spacers to put between the rails and the seat base, and used longer M8 high tensile bolts to secure them back on. This was because I found the new seating position a fraction too low for my liking.

I had a heap of photos I took while changing them but my phone shit itself last week and I lost all my recent photos.

Hope this helps anyone looking to upgrade to a far more comfortable seat on a shoestring budget.

GK Sigma ! You raid a museum ? Nice story . Guess if you can find a Sigma with good seats, you are on a winner! Aren't they a bulky sort of seat in the Sigma, and may not be real good for the taller driver ? - much like an L series seat in a Brumby.

Another model to add to the KC Laser, and current Suzuki Swift

They were kind of bulky but actually sat lower than the origanals that's why I had to space em up a bit, I guess I was lucky enough that the set I got we're in great nick if not covered in 3 decades worth of dust

Yes I tried Suzuki Swift Seats and found them a pretty tight fit with no gap between seat and gearbox tunnel. I would be trying something thats not so tight.
