'87 Targa Brumby

Post by xaymaca » Fri Oct 28, 2005 4:10 pm

Here's my brother's new car that I'm kinda taking over

Bought it from a guy that had already done a 5spd D/R conversion. Nothing else was done - all stock. Oh, and air con removed for some reason.

Anyway, since we've had it it's received the roo-bar, and it's newest present was a set of 14" Sunnies! It's got a 2" lift kit waiting, but we're going to make it a surprise for Brumby! (read: haven't got around to it yet)

Next on the agenda is either a Weber or Dual carbs, and also a set of 27" Nankangs.

Here it is!

Sounds like you want to do what I've done. Except I'm going to get rid of my duel carbs some times soon, droping a new engine in. Love the wheels... they remind me of..... mine!
Check out my site, you might find something interesting, I got some stuff there about fender trimming to fit the 27's with the 2" lift. http://webmaster.beverleypaine.com
Good luck with it.

The 2" lift went in today! Took me about 5 hours!

First time I've installed one, and I was doing it all by myself. I learnt a lot about the old Subie while I was at it too!

Pics will be up tomorrow hopefully!

enjoying watching this one transform, love the t top brumby. getting bloody hard to find. Believe they will be envied in years to come, I think australia still has a love affair with the brumby and i dont think it will diminish any untill something eventually comes along to fill the gap.
Well done and :D Keep us posted

*UPDATE*

Well, the latest pics are here!

The lift kit has been installed, as well as a set of driving lights that I received with the bumper that had to be wired up. All done now!

A set of Dual carbs are on the way thanks to stinky! :D

Let us know how the dual carb thing goes. I'm doing some research on it at the moment wondering if it is worth doing to my brumby. Im trying to find information on: the procedure for installing dual carbs, how much does it cost, how difficult is it to do, will it effect the reliability and longevity of the engine, how does it effect fuel consumption and so on. I hope we can get the material from the old site back, there should be some answers on there. In the mean time guess ill just have to search through USMB.

Well, the new Super Trippers are on... Looking quite the goods!

Required cutting of the guards obviously... I took too much off the front of the guard. Luckily the bumper does a reasonable job of covering my stuffup! (The orangey/rust coloured paint is rust protector)

Looks great xaymaca - its amazing the difference a lift kit and bigger tyres make to a car.
