L series - Replacing rotors and pads
Hi everyone,
I'm about to attempt replacing the rotors and pads on my 89 L series. I was wondering if I need to remove the 35mm spindle/hub nuts? I'd like to know before going out and buying a breaker bar, 35mm socket, and whatever else it'll take to get them off.
Cheers, Luke.

I did my front discs today - you need 36mm big mother socket for the driveshaft nut (crack them both with the car still on the ground), then I undid the 4 hub-to-disc bolts (14mm). Then (with the handbrake off disconnect the cable, then undo the 14mm caliper locking bolt and pull the caliper up (you can do the pads then). Then do the 2 bolts that hold the caliper to the steering knuckle and take the caliper right off. That lets you get the hub/disc off and swap

just remember you will have to push the piston in.. because that are front handbrake you will first, take the lid of the master cylinder and you will need to wind the piston in as well as pushing it in to fit the new pads.. or you will be there for hours.. just like i was once

ahhhrrr the subi will make it!
Hey all you top cats,
Thanks for replying to my message and offering your advice. It's going to save me a lot of time and money. I'd've hated to buy the wrong size socket and/or end up breaking a couple of bars, still to not even have the nuts off.
Hey Tony, thanks man I'm in Highgate if you're close by that'd be awesome if I could borrow your socket and 3/4 ratchet.
I've got the new rotors and pads good to go.
