Who you calling old? :p
Sorry, your just a married couple then? :p.

It could be for a number of things. I dare say a pull up to trick the ecu or dash. Pretty low value resistor for that though??? Do you have a wiring diagram? If its too low value resistor it could potentially damage something.

Probably just makes the car go vrrrrroooommmm!

You'd expect Jules to have a copy of the wiring diagram, as he's the one I'd go to if I need one.

Speaking of making it go vrrrrrrrrooooommmm.. I bought one of those thingy-me-bob that goes in your ciggie lighter and makes the inside of the car sound like a V8.. worst $25 ever spent

No worse than that double turbine bladed tube I paid $14 for, posted from HK

I think the little green men flogged it when they swooped by to see if my Vortex was a space ship :D , might have flipped into the nearby garbage....

I reckon the wire with the resistor is the wire that tells the alternator to charge. In the EJ factory loom I'd suspect that the ECU is what triggers the alternator to charge, but for the conversion it's easier to have an ignition power wire tell the alternator to do it's thing - but being that the ECU usually uses 5V the ignition power signal would need to be stepped down.

Either way I'm keen to know more about this adaptor as I'm looking at upgrading from the round plug alternator to the square plug unit as I'm not getting full charge and it's creating minor issues that I'm not happy with when everything is running :(

Cheers

Yeah Ive not tried it yet Bennie as Ive been chasing other gremlins ... like ping that comes and goes and a check engine light that comes on then no code in the computer.
(I even changed the computer to see if that made a difference)

This was checked with my new code reader toy and the plugs on the loom. Turns out I had a faulty crank angle sensor... It was giving the proper signal when tested, only damn sensor I didn't change as I didn't think it was a problem.

It wasn't until I actually pulled it out that I noticed the problem it had.

It looks like something has flicked off the belt or crank sprocket and smashed into the sensor.

Needless to say jetcar is running way better and hopefully will stay that way for a while :)

Yep still all good, I swapped back to the old ECU (auto) and instantly had problems. The Manual ECU is older but obviously works better :) As well I drove jetcar until she was empty, 336km to half a tank (not sure how many litres sorry Jonno) and have put in 95 ron and I've not had any ping since. (I lost half a litre in the price difference :()

You should do the comparison. One tank of 91RON then one tank of 95RON and one tank of 98RON. Comparing engine performance, noises and efficiency. You might be quite surprised

If your better half gets wind of this you'll be flat out of luck doing that!

Just saying!

Ive done that test with fuels in my old wagon. Didnt really make much difference to the old motor. Results got swamped in general differences from traffic conditions. I usually run bp ultimate anyway.

Good to hear the manual ecu fixed the issue toonga. Must have different ignition advance curves and probably different injection charts too.

If you get a programmer you can probably read its eeprom and flash it onto your auto ecu.

WAs up at RSR555's new workshop for the day yesterday, seems I was the only one who didn't get in trouble by the way :) (need to buy lots of lotto tickets I think)

One new fuel pump and the manual computer properly in place, Im thinking I like jetcar again :)

THANKS AGAIN DR. URABUS

Oh and for a point of interest my EJ front gearbox code is 7L-TM752RZ4AA not that I can find any information on it in english.

Brumby90 It may help with the gearbox issue from yesterday evening :(

I didn't get into trouble from the boss? quite surpised you didn't get 500 sms telling you to come home.. lol

No problems MR DOOGLE !!

I don't think the casing numbers are going to help Mr Tindley at this stage :(

I believe the gearset we thought was EJ16 (that came out of my casing) may be of use in the other casing that has the broken gear set in it.

EJ16 gearset will not work in the EJ22 gearbox.. completely different ratios. Casings are the only things the same

Doesn't matter as we have found another box that we will fit tomorrow night.. if this fails we have 3 gearboxes to make one out of.

It is official my jetcar hates 91 ron unleaded ... what puzzles me is that up until about 5 months ago I could run 91 without a problem. I had to drain 30 litres of 91 into my brumby. and Im now running jetcar on 95 :(

I have read that WA now has ethanol blended fuel at some stations, but I buy my fuel from the BP at the bottom of the hill here in Australind and AFAIK they don't sell EBF.

For the record I tested the compression yesterday and I have 150 psi on all cylinders.

Any one know if we have had an octane rating drop on 91 in WA?

Maybe time to pop the heads off and give the top end some love? How many km's on the engine?

As far as I know there hasnt been any change in the fuel. Ethanol blend may cost more to run then premium. I do believe you dont get as much umph or milage from it. I think its meant to be a fuel for the "eco friendly" people.

I wish I could afford to "pop" the heads off. if I could I know where there is a low KM EJ25 that I would "pop" reconditioned EJ22 heads onto and put back into jetcar.

Im sure I would need to run either 95 or 98 for that one :)

Il have an old ea81 soon, should be a good upgrade for ya :p, thats if it makes it past the engine bay of my vortex .
