If you are talking about your dash lights.
What is your idle speed.
I know when I tune up my EA81 I can get it to idle very low at 200 to 400 RPM and the dash lights come on till I set the idle back up to 700 to 800 RPM (whatever the correct idle speed is)
I guess it has something to do with the alternator producing the required voltage for a stable, running system.

May have sweet nothing to do with your rotor button - likely the alternator has dropped its output to below 12V at idle. Have had a few now that worked OK charging at just 12V in use everyday, leave it a few days to a week and battery has dropped its charge and not enough to start. Loose drive belt is start

Sounds like Alternator, worn brushes will do this to.
As well as the wonderfull "inbuilt" regulator.
Or earthing problem.
Got a multimeter?
L serious, still.

Check the fuses next to the overflow bottle (behind the bettery) as you may have knocked them when changing the dizzy stuff.

I also agree with Greg, grab a mulitimeter and check the charge rate. I'd also drop in to your local auto sparky and see if he can do a 'load test' on your battery.
