Vortex seats in L Series ?

Well, yes and no.... the fronts bolts centres measure up about the same and without any hole enlargement, line up and screw in. However, at the back, the outer bolt needs an extra 75mm and spacer tube, with the inner a bit of angle iron made to fit the seat secure hole and the floor and give the seat some support.

Even then, sitting in it, not recommended for shorter drivers wanting excellent all round vision - it feels like I am sitting a little pointing to the centre of the car than straight ahead ??

Seat feels better than the arse popped L Series with 260,000km on it. Lucky the brown interior of the Vortex matches the Jaffa internals

Now that your L series seat is out, take it to an upholsterer and get the foam renewed, and if possible, add a little more added for a tighter fit. I did it with my old l series and the difference was amazing. Cost about $100 from memory.

thnaks for the tip, but figure i should not need it now. the foam underneath my bum was being cut up by the wire supports beneath it! I thought I fixed that with a sheet of aluminium but losing out again.

Now goes around corners faster

Fixed the feeling of turning left in the seat by chocking the rear right corner and made support bracket LH rear to stop seat sinking in that corner - all for a good test drive. Unless your Vortex seat retains its height adjustment, not recommended for anyone much under 6'2" if you want to retain god all round vision

And .... 87 Touring Wagon lounge chairs weigh in at nearly dead on 18kg on the crapper scales, whereas the Vortex seats just on 13.5 kegs. 9 kg saving !

Hrmmm... Interesting all this Vortex seat talk into the L series!

Did you try removing the rails to swap the L's rails onto the Vort seats? (same question as I posted in the what did you do to improve your subi today? - then I saw this thread)

And com'on Jonno - where are the pics?!

Yeah, need to be tall bastard and no big uns behind you coz these seats give you the room up front

racevortex87 is giving away a Vortex seat in Sydneys southern outskirts !
And to answer the question about the rails, big fat heavy duty harbour bridge style rivets, better to make it fit another way.
Maybe just bend the sliders stopper flat and swap just the lower slider rails, bend tab back up again ??

Yeah.. the XT seats are much lower (suits tall people) but I'd hate to 4WDing around in vortex seats all day

but in a RX sedan might be ok.

When I ran about with just th drivers seat in place at its thn max height, it did not look much, if any lower than the non adjustable TW seat in the LHF position.
