my 1st ping !!

Post by steptoe » Sun Dec 30, 2012 5:23 pm

First one I have heard anyway in the 12psi EA82T LPG L Series sedan - hauling a 250 er 249kg trailer loaded with about 400kg of cement sleepers up a long haul incline in third , about 80kph , ??3800 rpm ?? engine temp about 80C

and as I heard the first ping outta my beast, backed off the loud pedal, looked across at my knock sensor monitor now reading 3.6 V or so from its normal ready mode 1.7V, max is 4.5V so had more to go or more timing retard to pull in if need be.

Was at about 8 or 10 psi jut before I heard it .....

from memory my static timing is 16 or 18 BTDC not the standard 20 for the EA82T

Not usually something to get excited about Jonno!

I hope you get it sorted, you might see/hear more pinging as the engine wears and the ambient temp goes up :(

Cheers

Well this time the factor really would have been the load. I am hoping LPG reduces the wear , yet the extra psi might work against that :(
I am happy that the system is in place and working - just one ping and she is activated !
