Nrma
Finally got the wagon off road this afternoon - a whole 100m of tame track with a smidgen of mud and a couple of ruts.
next minute - stalling and spluttering at low RPM (below 3000) essentially un-drivable
Now the proud owner of 2 years of road side assist - issue ended up being some form of gunk blocking the carbie.
Any thoughts on cleaning? or servicing the thing?

yeah, a fuel cleaner like Nulons jobbie at about $25 , get in and use the tank, or whatever, read their instruction, then change both fuel filters, not sure if old MY wagon had one near tank as well as one up front. That could have been silting up in your carby waiting for you to go offroad. Service kit through the carby or get another and bung it on....

If the gunk is deep inside I would have thought you have to take it apart and clean it? I've heard of a trick using carbie cleaner but don't know how it goes. It's not that hard to take it apart and rebuild if you're careful, have the right book and make sure everything goes back the same way it came out.
Will it ever end!?

Cheers ill have a look. The carbie seems a little more complex than anything I have had to attempt before. I'll do some more research - but maybe the cleaner and filter change is a good place to start.
I managed to make it off the dirt road and onto bitumen before making the decision to stop - might have got furthur with a manual and ability to keep revs high but yes sounded prety sick.
The NRMA guy ended up revving the car up and quickly blocking the air intake said it would suck through stuff that may have been shaken up and was blocking the carbie.
Any how after about 6 or 7 repeats of this strategy the car returned to its composed self and I was on my way home...
My girlfriend also uses the car and figure NRMA is probably a sensible thing to have.

haha - well there was an old sticker on the car so I called up told them I was broken down and then became a member, after which they dispatched a car.
On another note - today the car went through a bout of stalling as i came of the accelerator and idled to a stand still. Rpm just dropped off.
I seem to recall a thread on this a couple of weeks ago - Ill have to hunt around - anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?
Cheers
