Getting Good at Gearbox Swaps

Post by legacytt » Thu Jun 22, 2006 2:48 pm

I put a Lib Dual Range into my car yesterday. I have modified it to take the L series Low range. So after swapping, rear diff, shifter, clutch pedal/cable, clutch and flywheel it all went. Except for a nasty sound very similar to a dead bearing. So out with the box again and it was spilt ready to get a bearing replaced. This is the second one I have had this happen on, luckily the other wasn't on my car. Turns out to be the biggest bearing on the end of the input shaft. Should have it back together on the weekend.

I need to stick to one idea, this car has had 5 gearboxes now, none of which have broken, I just keep changing them for different applications. They are in order 4.11 Auto, 4.44 Turbo Auto, 4.11 Turbo Manual, 3.9 Turbo Manual and now 3.9 Dual Range.LOL
