Help needed by newbie for strut identification
Hi there,
I just bought a 1992 Liberty wagon GX that needs new rear shocks for RWC. My dad has taken out the right side and the left is leaking. I have a photo of the drivers side and the measurements.
Can anyone tell me what I need to replace them and were to find them. I live in Maroochydore?
Spring diameter 95mm and 30cm long. Shock and spring 675 long.
I hope to get my P's next week and get the RWC which is due in 14 days.

You can also PM FROG on here who works at a dealership in NSW. From your VIN he can tell you exactly what it is you need and what it's going to cost. He could at least give you the part numbers.
But as Rodeo4jake has said, you can go to your local parts joint and they should be able to get the units you need in store within a day or two if they're worth their weight. Just make sure you specify AWD or 2wd.
There are some on here that would say go with KYB's for the best service time before replacement is required. Some would say that Gabriel's do the job well for the price. Personally from what I've read on here I'd go the KYB's over that Gabriels, but if you're on a budget and need it on the road go the Gabriels. You might find yourself buying new/second hand struts later down the track if you're looking at lifting your liberty for some offroad fun. Do a search about that
All the best with getting your P's and your lib on the road. If you work on your driving style (aka - don't ring it's tits off) it'll look after you for a long time. Just ask Taza about his EJ20... And you should be able to get some good fuel economy out of it too - if the engine and all the drivetrain components are in good condition you should continually see 10L/100km without flogging it. Around town this will rise. I recently got 8.7L/100km in a mate's Gen2 liberty. Stoked!

PS: You'll need a set of spring compressors to swap the springs over - read up on how to do this as you don't want to stuff up when you've got a spring under compression - VERY DANGEROUS!

The strut in the pic looks to be some kind of conversion, with a smaller diameter spring than original. I have a set similar to these in my shed that I pulled out of my Lib wagon. They were converted by Pedders according to a receipt I found, and look to have a replaceable insert. You will have to pull the top hat and spring off, and then remove the insert to see if there is a part number on it. Mine were done when it was converted from airbag suspension.
Yes, it was modified by Fulcrum, so we asked them to source a replacement shock. They found it was a mazda 626 shock and ordered them in, but they don't fit. The top of the shock is too wide and the mountings don't fit.
