Bodykits for MY's?
Bodykits for MY's?
Hey hey. i've got an MY station wagon which instead of lifting it, i was thinking of dropping it, and it occured to me that it would probably look fairly stupid without some minor plastic surgery. I was only wondering if bodykits from imprezas and liberties and such would look good on/if even fit an MY wagon? any info would be good.
hehe thanks guys.

Maybe see if someone has done anything with Photoshop in regards to this... should be interesting. I think i remember an L series lowered with some body kit parts on it before but never seen an MY.

Kwijimbo has fitted some Nissan Pulsar bumpers to his 13B powered GLf - it actually looks quite good.

Monster Subaru sold to a good home!! Still a Subaru owner. Will try stay in the Ausubaru loop. Sorry

damn right it looks good! from a vector right? thats certainly something i might look into, but thats an MY coupe. im only guessing that the coupes and wagons are somewhat different in length? they appear that way. the L-series bits wouldnt fit my MY would they? well, at least i have something to consider.

MY coupes and wagons are the same length wheel to wheel i think... and also everything infront of the front doors is pretty much identicle.

well due to the amount of trial and error, and damaging them by accident, they owe me a packet.
If you took it to the same place I took mine and they know the car, you'd be looking at about $50 per bar, plus about 4-500 in labour to fit, weld, cut, fit, play around etc. then you need to plastic weld/bog it up, then paint it
you can get a full fibreglass kit made for abt 3k including a mould which u could then produce them.
personally, unless u plan to go all out like i did, it's a lot of money. my owes me over $25k. most damn expensive MY you ever saw.
Yes they are N13 pulsar bumpers.

That sounds psycho, any cheaper option? As you can imagine, I'm just like everyone else, cos I'm always tryin to get somethin for nothin, you know it if you've ever sold something
No possible way to like get a big block of fibreglass and stick it to my front bar then cut it and mould it myself then get like fibreglass matting n make a bumper perhaps. ill practice a few times obviously... Is that even possible?

if your good with fibreglass then anything is possible
find yourself a fibreglass body kit you like the look of and chop it and re-attach it where it needs to be
even glass in the mounts off an old MY bumper and she will be sweet
lots of hard work with sanding things smooth, but if you take your time and plan things through then... anythings possible
or you can just go to the wrecker and have a look around till you see something that might look good, look at how it mounts and think about how to make it fit an my... if you think you can, then go for it

lol yeah well it was really expensive for me because it was trial and error. i'd tip money into something that didn't work, so we'd have to try again, again more money.
Now that I know how to do it, it would be a lot cheaper.
Glassing is easy, but you have to do it properly to get the right finish. Anyone can glass. where the quality stands out is in the finish. sanding, bogging, more sanding etc to get a glass like finish and no pinholes.
i dare say it would be easy to do what i did if you wanted to invest in a heat gun and some plastic weld strips and a sander. would take some time, but would be considerably cheaper.

I've got a factory L series skirt kit sitting here waiting to go onto my wagon.
The side & rear skirts are simply screwed onto the car with self tappers in lots of hidden places.
I don't think there was anything factory available for the MY, hough I'm thinking about making some moulds of mine so I can try to recoup some of the costs of getting it here. Might be worth trying to mod.
