Hail

Post by niterida » Sun Nov 04, 2012 12:47 pm

3 weeks from summer in a hot part of the country that hardly sees any rain and it decides to HAIL !!!

No worries I have 12mx9m shed and a 8mx8m garage that my car alternates between.

Except today of all days I left it outside - FAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKK

Will have to wait until I get home from work to see how much damage is done but apparently the hail was the size of golf balls so I expect my car to resemble one now as well :(

That sucks mate! Must have had a high altitude cloud that formed the hail stones :???:

It's been known to snow on Ularu too!

Hope there's less damage than what you expect, if there's any at all.

Cheers

It just came though work (30kms east of home) and it was violent for about 30 secs - visibility was down to about 5m - but the hail was only marble sized so fingers crossed .......................

Home might not have got anything. Time will tell.

Pebble size hail stones shouldn't be an issue, it's once their egg/golfball size that they become a real issue!

I feel for you, had it happen to me in about 1981 and at the time it trashed by 1978 Datsun SX 200B. Insurance fixed it then but now as most of us have older "classic" cars I doubt they would.
Hope all is OK for you though.

My RS wagon :(

I think it will be OK - the missus hasn't rung back (but I don't get reception very often at work) so thats good news and the hail that went though here at work wasn't enough to damage a car. Will have to wait till I get home at 7pm to confirm.

We got some hail here in Perth but they were very small where we were. Why would you ever leave an RS outside? Are you crazy??
You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.

Well I wasn't expecting it to hail in November !!

That bloody aquarium is taking up garage space so I didn't have any choice. I thought it was going to replace the one we already have but no - the missus wants to keep both so I have spent the last week building a new stand to match the existing one. $250 tank is goingto end up costing me well over $500 by the tiome I finish the stand, buy more gravel and ornaments and filter media and fish and ........

Yeah it'll be worth it. I'm quite proud of my stand, especially for my first attempt at ever making any sort of furniture - mind you it had better be good because it has to support well over 500kg !!

Good to hear. Today was nothing like that storm which actually damaged stuff that we had a few years ago though

Hail stones have to be the size of marbles to damage a car.

You got the RS from Melbs and it obviously survived 9 March 2011 - that is two lives gone in last eighteen months - drive it carefully !
