Brumby upgrade - Carby and exhaust

Post by PocketRocket86 » Wed Oct 10, 2012 11:21 pm

Hey All,
I was wondering what your thoughts on a Webber Carby upgrade for an EA81 engine, 1990 brumby are? By boy has done 181000km and is still completely stock standard. He also needs a new exhaust as his rattles like an old skeleton and being slightly under educated i'd LOVE some tips and hints!!!! Any thoughts or suggestions for a newby? :-D
Cheers,
Sam

Hey pocket - if you check out "allautomotive" on ebay, he is selling an upgrade for the brumby that might suit you. I am thinking of doing the same for mine as well

If you are going to buy a weber kit, get one from the USA even with postage it is still nearly half the price of the kits on ebay in Australia.

kits on Ebay Motors

gives you a write up on how to fit the kit

Get a second hand one off eBay, then buy the adaptor plate and a reconditioning kit.
All off eBay and for under $200.
For an exhaust something around 2".
Personally I'm getting mine custom made and he is going to work out exactly what size for my engine.
Mine is heavily modded. See thread ( click on "Bianca" in my signature)

Is the 32/36 Weber DGEV carb the correct choice for the Brumby? Are many people going with the water choke, and if so, where do you tap into the cooling system to hook it up?

As long as the 32/36 Weber DGEV is jetted properly it is a great little carby for the EA81.

Water chokes are great as they stay on until the engine temp is reached. as for hooking one up, I would tap into the pipes that come out of the engine and go into the intake near the carby.
