Tell me about what I have PLEASE
So I bought a Brumby as I needed a ute, it is a 90 or 91 model, blue with the targa roof, bull bar and roll bar in tub. Genuine 160.000k on the clock. I am curious about the colour, it looks like factory paint but I have only seen a few in this blue, Is it a limited model? hope you guys can give me more info.
sounds like a good one.
Take it around to Doms motors and speak to "Frog" he will give you the ins and outs and tell you exactly what is original.

Well it is probably an "ag quip" model.
Does it have the rear step?
Yes I have only seen a few in this color, they look good.
Defaniatly take it around the corner to Doms motors.
Andy G, aka Frog, will be able to tell you all.

I remember in 1986 going into my local Subaru dealership in Geraldton and dreaming about owning one of their light metalic blue Brumby with twin glass roof, factory bullbar, factory white 13" rims and factory alloy side steps.. at $10,990 drive away. It's something I wished I had but instead I brought an SS Torana hatchback
So to answer your question, yes they did come out in light blue and to check your colour code, just pop you bonnet and look on the radiator support panel for a little sticker iof still original.
Oh.. Hi and Welcome to AUSubaru.. we must see pics before any more help can be given.. hehe (only kidding but love pics of good Brumbys)

Ag quip and the 'sports' are different models. Blue was a std OME colour and not a limited run as such.Brumby Kid wrote:Well it is probably an "ag quip" model.

The metallic blue colour was only available in the Sports model (targa roof, twin headlight, white rims) between 1987 and 1990 after which the Sports was discontinued and twin headlights were used on the Standard model. The Ag-Quip package was only ever offered to Standard models. Intermittent wipers were never available on any Brumby. There were no factory alloy side steps or factory bullbars from Subaru.

Then the Brumby with targa roof that I scored the intermittent wipers from must have been an afterthought, or I wonder, when FROG quietens down a bit at work, a check on th VIN may reveal .....brumbyrunner wrote:The metallic blue colour was only available in the Sports model (targa roof, twin headlight, white rims) between 1987 and 1990 after which the Sports was discontinued and twin headlights were used on the Standard model. Might not have been factory bulbars - dealer bullbars ?? Almost same as factory. Think same is then said for no factory AC - all dealer fit and option of different kits depending on dealers closest supplier or year ? Some short sheeted the glovebox - others didn't
did the ag quip have optional side skirts/rear 1/4 skirt?brumbyrunner wrote:The metallic blue colour was only available in the Sports model (targa roof, twin headlight, white rims) between 1987 and 1990 after which the Sports was discontinued and twin headlights were used on the Standard model. as the one on ebay does in the factory paint. wondering if its genuine or aftermarket (custom).

While Subaru Japan did not offer factory side steps or bullbars, Subaru Australia Certainly did... OK they were options and made by aftermarket companies but still factory supported!brumbyrunner wrote:There were no factory alloy side steps or factory bullbars from Subaru.

You are indeed addicted Cam!!!
Some advice from an oldie.... save money, buy a block of land, buy used Brumby's and wreck and restore them...
You have the hunger, the youth and one day all the knowledge.

There's always engineering places that can do the work - or do a search about them on google. A mate had a set made up in WA and shipped over. He's more than happy with them.Brumby Kid wrote:So where would one get some side steps or these other options now?
It's a bit like getting a custom exhaust - you find what you want, make enquiries, find someone that'll do the job for the price you're after then you leave your car with them, pay some money and the job's done!
I'm looking forward to the day I own one of these

Cheers

Thank you. I am thinking about studying Ag Science when I finally leave school, so a block of land would be nice.
I think I will always be restoring cars.
Thanks Bennie, I more ment the Subaru dealer side steps as I have not heard nor seen them before.El_Freddo wrote:There's always engineering places that can do the work - or do a search about them on google. A mate had a set made up in WA and shipped over. He's more than happy with them.
