I'll be needing a new windscreen for an L series so has anyone had one replaced before? are they jaw dropping expensive or reasonably priced?
Also...by the end of tonight there will be 3 subies parked in our driveway

That sounds alright. For a run around car I was budgeting for around $2k so even with replacing the glass I'm aheadGannon wrote:Last one I got done was about $300 odd
If you took the air cleaner off the top I'd say it's a carbie. If it looks like the below image it's an MPFI (non AC):Silverbullet wrote:Bennie I'm embarrassed to say I'm not sureI whipped the air cleaner top off to check for any signs of head gasket failure, didn't look much further. Looks the same as my Dad's carbie L, is there any obvious differences in appearance between the two?
No need to "sorry bennie" me - we've got an EA82 touring wagon in the family now too - the new L series (resto section).Silverbullet wrote:I definitely won't be converting this to EJ (sorry bennie)
Are well,steptoe wrote:tailgate struts nice??
Reminds me, where's MudKing ??
That's right!Silverbullet wrote:Snapped sump bolt? do you mean the sump plug? Cos if you're putting enough tension on those 30 tiny bolts to snap em, you're doing them up to tightI think they're supposed to be about 5 ft-lb or something, barely tight at all.
Only if some muppet uses the wrong tool!Silverbullet wrote:Sump plug on the other hand gets stuck easily, I think most plugs out there are rounded off aren't they?
Yeah, they're differentSilverbullet wrote:Jonno, nope of course mere weeks after I get nice struts on my old car I get one with rooted struts, that are different to MY so I can't swap emOh well I lived with buggered struts for ages I'm used to it.
Make sure the L series is somewhere that you won't have to move it. When I had mine down the fella said not to move it for 2 to 3 days while the glue stuff set. Moving the vehicle would have naturally distorted the windscreen opening that could damage the integrity of the adhesive during it's setting process. That's the BS I was fed anyway...Silverbullet wrote:Windscreen is getting done tomorrow; $200 brand new fitted in my driveway.
