My Subaru Adventure for the day

Post by tim_81coupe » Fri Jun 16, 2006 7:28 pm

Heading to work this morning in my little beige wagon (known as "Milo") I turned out onto Leach Hwy and the clutch cable seemed to give way under my foot. The pedal sunk to the floor and I couldn't engage any gears.

Seems the two-bit "she'll be right" cable tie job I did fitting the L series clutch cable to the MY pedal box finally failed, 18 months after doing it. I tried to fix it for a while, to no avail. I got it the rest of the way to work by clutchless shifting and killing the engine at lights.

Luckily 'work' is a proper workshop, so after work I ripped the pedal box out and drilled a new hole to accomodate the L cable. Plus I pilfered some new bolts to fit it too.

An hour late for work and half an hour after work fixing it, all for the sake of saving half an hour 18 months ago.....

Is there another way to do that is there :D , mine was connected to the accelerator pedal with a cable tie for over 3 years and some 20,000 km.

oh that reminds em, mine's attached to the accel pedal by a cable tie as well ... sounds like it's got some life in it before I get too worried ... and hey, I've always got spare cable ties :P

And it would only take about 2 mins at the most to replace :)
