I know this is now too late but I was umming and ahhring (spelling) about an EA82 engine that was in a Kombi but was pulled out to send the car back to original (VW engine now I believe)
This engine was on ebay at Abermaine which is not far from you.
The sale has closed now but for about $150.00 and in good nick was worth think about.
Things like this come up from time to time in our local area so if you want to stay with the EA82 keep an eye on ebay or try the Cardiff Subaru wreckers or the bigger wreckers in your area like Beresfield etc.

I think i can manage on the current motor for another 10,000km or so but yeah, I should be looking at a new motor.
