where to Buy: 15' Rims for Brumby

Post by Green_eyed_liberty » Mon Mar 19, 2012 9:06 pm

would like to take the next step in 4x4 capabilities

i would like to fit 29" or 30" tires to the brumby, and cant seem to find tires in 14'.

i know that re-drilling hubs might be the go.. but i gave it a go myself last weekend (on a spare hubs) and i wasnt confident with my work

or can somone who is confident in there work with 6stud conversions and who would like to help me please speak up :-) money, hugs or alcohol is offered

I've seen Luke82's success with Hilux 15" steel rims (5 lug? 6lug?) on his L Series.
He uses two of the factory holes and two others drilled to match the Subaru four-lug pattern.

I saw he had 225/70R-15 tyres, which is nearly 28" tall.

I did it with Nissan terrano rims running 29's. Use a drill press to do the holes and make sure the new studs press fit in.

Have a search, I did a thread for my six stud conversion. Best mod I did to the car

If you have look on ebay you can find a 17" rim in the 4x140 pattern or

You could look at buying some rota brand wheels with specified stud pattern or

upgrade to five stud brakes with a crossbred brake kit.

Good luck with the search

I got my 15,s Ina group buy a few years ago on the forum was about 80 made so some may pop up for sale one day. If not approach a wheel manufacturer have a chat get some blanks made up to pcd and required offset. I think that's all was done with the first lot. But because of the interest in them at the time a certain member footed the cost for 80 rims which made rims cheaper again. I got mine for $66 each I think that was cost price. Obviously less rims made more it will cost

Drilling wheels isn't rocket science. Get a drum brake as a template, punch out the two studs you want to drill, centre-punch and away you go.

Or track down some Pug 15" rims from a 504/505 GTi.
1989 Brumby - Shiny new red paint, stroked EJ20 phase 2 SOHC with Darton sleeves bored to EJ22, Wiseco high-compression pistons, Delta 2000 grind cams , EJ/XT6 5 stud with WRX 4/2 pots, 5-speed, 86 GTS seats and so much more.
Contact me for reproduction XT6 hubs...and EA82 rear discs.

Or if you don't trust yourself drilling the holes accurately, get a engineering place to do it,pretty sure it wouldn't cost that much for a few holes drilled.I don't have a drill press myself so that's what i will be doing if i go down that path,i have an old nissan steel wheel as a template.
