Quick update , doddering up to 369000 and ended up going another years rego . I keep thinking I'll miss this car because it such a handy workhorse and so easy to live with . Touch wood its reliable and all I do is oil and filter changes and the odd cooling system flush .
The secret was to change every vital rubber hose in the engine bay and replace all consumables ie clutch and water pump when it was apart .
I reckon in a years time assuming I still have Ellie I'd like to see 400K which would be 151k with me and around 85k on that expensively rebuilt XT4 spider engine .
The old girl always get a good wash and wax polish , wax on wax off Daniel san , before inspections and looks quite presentable for a week or so . Scour the RX alloys and attack the interior with the vaccy and Armourall .
Then I stand back for a minute and think like Clint in Grand Torino - well aint she fine .
Confirmed mad car disease , cheers A .

Well it cost me a fair bit and its nice to be able to pretty much just drive it now . Its still like a cat watching a dog because you can't turn you back on these old dears , the day your guards down is the day they bite you so they demand their "not unreasonable attention" from their owners/keepers . Any long term L Series owner has to be in tune with their car or not nice things happen .
Don't ever laugh at your L because she who laughs last laughs loudest .

Yes I would agree with steptoe, most likely the temp sender was not accurate. The one thing I was religious about was checking that bloody reading, still didn't help!
Oh well, I have a refreshed EA82T to go in, all new genuine parts (I do not want to think of how much that all cost!) so should be going again soon.

Update , since 3-4th April 2007 (at 249k) have done 131055 km - odo reads 380055ish .
Um that means 81909 miles so 85000 would mean 136000 km or 385000 total . Total in miles would be 240625
With the money I've spent and the use I should have had in 5 1/2 yrs I think I'll have done alright . "New" engi .ne has ~ 65000 on it and still feels good .
Coxy keeps telling me that keeping the miles low on the Skyline and Lancer is worth something too .

Nice thing about the L Series, the speedo kept a good record. MY's were not as good. My GLTM5 is a baby, first abandoned with 188,000 is now on 252,000 and about all I have replaced is the engine, the 3 speed auto, power steer, front seats, steering wheel, rear pads and rear coils coz I pinched them for the Vort
, oh, forgot - the headlights, bumper and bonnet the wrecker sold before I saved her, and a rear door due big dent. Currently shod in TW 13"s with plastic hubcaps ...BAAaaaa
