Anyone got experience with multi channel security cameras and recorders? I have simple jaycar intruder alarm kit KJ8060 hooked up to a few things to announce visitors coming or register the visit whjen not at home. It has false alarms like sometimes when fridge compressor cuts in or nano second before thunder strikes , screams 40 seconds then just flashes a red light until reset.
Occasionally announces neighbours kids lookin' for lost balls etc - 'sall OK until some little coot has figured to rip the reed switch from its mount or pull the wires. They went too far the first time, the second, I had not even finished the job of repair and they've pulled the wires through the wall breaking the NC, set off the alarm and pissed off without closing the gate.
It is war! Found ebay DVR kits with or without supplied cameras and hdd, some are as cheap as $40 for capture but hard work to get the pics. I have a few old wireless cameras that I can power from a car battery hidden in the garden if I have to. I know Swann is the big name from Dickasmith, seen heavy dicounts at times, China is a good source, so too is Aus for some stuff.
any experience of tinkering with these things DVR and cameras and the ease of the software for viewing ?
DVR home security experience?

Dont install them in change rooms or toilets. Generally the authorities (and women) take a dim view of this

$110 posted from within Oz, need to dredge up my own hard drive saving some purchase price - should be cheap enough satisfaction to fix the little coots if they make a repeat visit - learn how to get it on yootube and send a link to their parents !!
500GB HDD is said to be set and forget for 120 days but that may be on motion sensor style set up.

My uncle's got a you-beaut system that even texts him to say that there's been a break of the designated zone, from there he can call the police if he's not home... And it's got back up battery too incase anyone cuts the power like they did last time - that time among other items, a 6 tonne bulldozer went missing - not yet found either!
