why don't I have permission to post in the West Oz sub-forum?

Post by 2nd Hand Yank » Mon Nov 28, 2011 8:55 pm

I've been a member since Jun 2011 and have 431 posts to date!

Since I can't post in the West Oz sub-forum, I almost never look at it.
I'm just finding out now about the Two Rocks event,
and I don't think I can make it, only because I need some tinkering on my L Series...
*Unless a few members feel like tinkering on my L Series Friday evening.*

To go sand driving, I need:

- front bearings replaced
- rear bearings greased
- vacuum leak diagnosis; repair might not be urgent
- unsure if I "need" new tyres just for sand driving; the rears are on their wear-bars

I have some other things I'd like fixed, but they probably won't affect the reliability of my car in sand. Old radiator, but that will probably be fine. I would like to show off RSR 555's 3" lift kit he was going to make for me. *hint, hint* (hehehe) TOONGA would like my 2" lift for his Vortex, but I suspect he'd take his Brumby to Two Rocks.

Nice rig mate!

What motor do you have pushing those big meats?
(US slang for tyres? I read that in car mags)
I think I'd want a bigger motor before going to bigger tyres.
Does it still rub? How did you modify your fenders?
What kind of fuel economy are you getting with them? (I'm at 9.5L/100km)

Any evening before Friday would also be good. :)
DM me if you think you might be free.

I just don't want to do any sand driving with my L Series in its current condition.
I have new front bearings already, just not installed because I don't have the tools to do it.

I also have a roll of LED strip lights, supposed to be cut-able,
which I thought would be nice on my fender flares to add light immediately in front of the tyres;
better for driving through rocky places at night.
