I run twins on std EA81 and previously on a totally remachined block, heads and cam - do it - it is worth it. At only a guess it is a noticeable improvement in torque - better hauling at highway speeds and above. I used to find self on overtaking having to hold back suddenly due to 140 on the dial in order to maintain my demerit points

heres some carby porn for you, a well kept functional set of twin carbs.

and out came the measuring tape at 515mm long I'm thinking these will go on an 1800 motor but it would be nice for someone to confirm this.

You know, they do not look like my EA81 set, not sure what it is about them, denuded of something? EA81 ?

The carbs certainly look like they are from a EA71 rather than EA81... The air cleaner is merely clamped down on the top of this set of carbs, while for an EA81 there is stud mounted in the middle of the carbs that an air cleaner assembly is screwed/attached to (just like a single carb EA81). There are no studs in these pictures.

Just got back from the shed. These carbs are definitely from an EA71 at 520mm end to end. An EA81 manifold is longer by 20 or 30mm.

Unfortunately they look identical to the ones I was stooged on. I think that in addition to the above info, the EA81 manifold sits off centre, where as the one pictured would be at 90 degrees to the motor.

'Thats going straight to the pool room' then. Mount it up on a jarrah block and hang it on the wall. Cant ever see myself owning anything with a 71 in it. Still looks freakin cool imho.

I'm looking to sell my entire EA81 dual carb motor. It needs some TLC but still ran hard when I took it out and just been sitting in the shed ever since. I was going to keep a hold onto it for a future possible project but after seeing how much just those carbs sold for on ebay I think I might sell it.
