heater core 4 sure..but this job takes around 1hr to do..and i would do it for you if you are in adelaide...drop your column.. unplug your heater cables from the back of the heater control switch....3 bolts across the top of the dash and 1 beside your knee each side and whammo everything comes off..unplug your harness and its straight in front of you..its the most satisfying job youll ever do on your soobi and you will learn there is no magic vodoo under there..everything is fool proof and yes even a noobi can do this job..who wants no heater in the winter..without a heater your soobi is 1 step closer to being a big pig......pm me if you need any advice ..i will guide you through if you need ...cheers..

Re Heater Core gone in L series
Ha my subi's heater core is also gone !!!
Got into car after lonnnng day at the orifice and the passneger footwell was swimming in coolant !.
Towed to my local mechanic, after he inspected it gave me the grave news.About a days labour plus parts ($600 +++).
He routed the heater hose back to itself. Now its winter is here its a jacket in the car to work.
Still deciding whether its worth getting it done or trading in on a Forester

If you're worried about removing the dash, it's not as bad a job as it looks, as with most Subaru dismantling jobs, it comes off pretty logically, and in one big bit.
Taking the front seats out makes the job easier on the back. and you need to drop the steering column off the top fire wall mount, also remove steering wheel.
Remove gear knob and centre console.
Unplug all the looms, take out a few screws and it's out.
The biggest problem I had was removing my audio system cabling.
Took me about four easy hours.
Mine did not have A/C so I can't help with that.
