Ok so have been mucking around for the afternoon trying to install some nice new Nolathane bushings for the control arm of my 1989 Brumby. I knew it would be a pain in the arse job and it sure did not disappoint. In typical arvo after work can't be bothered fashion I tried to remove the old ones with the control arm still in place....I now have a whole lot of rubber on the floor but it hasn't budged a cm. So first of all what is the go re removal of the lower ball joint and second does anyone have any handy tips for me? I have done a search on here but to no avail. I was hoping it would be a nice quick easy job so I could get on to the fun things like putting the engine back in

I use a flat blade screwdriver shoved in slot at back of ball jont housing on strut when I have removed clamping bolt - helps, so too a nozzle spray of subaru part number CRC556 in same slot to loosen build up of crud. That half of ball joint? or the lower half?

Burn the bastard out with oxy is another trick I have seen. Ten ton press, hacksaw blade from within?

I use a BFH and lots of beer !! lol

but really I'd remove the arm with the ball joint attached (by removing the 14mm bolt) and the 2 x 17mm Bolt & Nuts (Raduis Rod) and them play with it on a bench/vice.. much easier in the long run.

Thank you so much for your advice guys...managed to remove the control arm and burnt out the bushings...:) ....now have hit my next problem. I ordered the 28mm nolathane bushings which I believe you have to remove the metal casing that was around the original bushing....I have used a hack saw and cut it in a couple of spots. also tried a socket to bash it out....Didn't even look like budging....any ideas for a very frustrated brumby owner haha
