My beloved silver 1993 L series wagon was stolen from Preston station car park on 05/06/11.
It's featured here:

stolen suby recovered
Wonders will never cease.
I got a rude awakening at 2am a week ago. Some of Preston's finest constabulary were knocking on my door to tell me they found my Subaru parked in the Trolley Return bay at Epping Plaza car park.
My car's been called a lot of things by a lot of people, but I never thought of it as a trolley.
Long and short is some junkie got off a train, stole my car and drove to where the train line terminates.
Still had 3/4 tank of fuel in it. The dude didn't even go through the car to steal stuff.
Good to have it back......

Yeah, I thought it was a bit strange that they would come to my house at 2 am.
Apparently the copper who found it used to have an L series and it caught his eye. That's when he did the check on the plates and found out it was stolen.
Got a damaged lock and barrel, but now sporting a club lock......
Hopefully might be enough of a visual deterrent.
Having said that, I read in the local rag that the council is offering free immobilisers to motor theft victims and people with pre 2001 cars.
That's me all over!

That's awesome mate! Not the 2am knock, but the fact that you've got your L back in one piece - without damage?exsubaru wrote:Long and short is some junkie got off a train, stole my car and drove to where the train line terminates.

My sister's L was flogged from the train station car park in Sydneham (I think it was). Anyway, the coppers found it driven through a cyclone fence probably at 60km/h. Driving lights dead (just replaced from a tree or some stack she had!), left mirror broken off, side strips and window liners across roof were missing as well as one of the rear panels behind the rear door windows (sedan). Plus the ding in the front end and the scratches of the fencing from front to rear of the subi! What happened was while rounding a corner out of the carpark the steering lock clicked in as the pin that operated it behind the barrel came loose as they thrashed it around. It probably went something like "click... 'Oh shit!'... crash". Glad we got it back!
Grab, grab, grab!!! Why not if they're offering them?exsubaru wrote:Yeah, I thought it was a bit strange that they would come to my house at 2 am.

Make sure the pin in the bottom of where the barrel used to be is secured, otherwise you're at serious risk of the steering lock engaging while turning!!exsubaru wrote:Got a damaged lock and barrel, but now sporting a club lock......

Awesome news that Chris.. would definately recommend an immobilizer

You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.
