BYB BBQ 2006

Post by subiwidow » Tue Feb 21, 2006 5:50 pm

The date has been set. OCTOBER 14th and for the stayers the 15th. Book your holidays, days off, what ever you need. Don't miss it, they are getting bigger and better each year.
I am sure I told myself, last year was the last time I was doing this. I don't know how I keep getting hooked into having more BBQ's.

Any ideas for the day, just let me know. We have to start planning. :) [/b]

All is looking good for us to be there in the new Outback, there's no doubt it'll get dirty but I must refrain from breaking it

i'm interested but what do you all get up to, as you can see by the pics of my brumby in the wheels and tyres section it isn't design to go off road, so if it is a round circle telling big bull stories ( which im full of ) count me in

Last year was the first year we had any dirt at all. We had a pretty good cruise up through Yandina and the hills in behind last year. We catered for both on and off road going Subarus and are hoping to have some thing very similar this year.

Through the day there is normally a few stops for a break, a feed and a yack to get to know every one else. At days end we always end up some where around a fire with a feed, a few drinks and let the BS flow.

I don't think we have had any complaints yet and that includes the people that have broken their cars, gone bush when they should have been on the road and a few that wake up the following day with hangovers to rattle ancestors.

It is not a piss up by any means and we do promote no driving when over the limit. So if you want a few drinks, wait til the night time BS session, put up your tent where ever we end up and stay the night to sleep it off.

It is always a very laid back friendly get together with a decent fun cruise and some sort of activity planned for the day.

In the past we had been water skiiing at Somerset dam, go carting at the Big cart track at Lansborough, living it up like yuppies at Noosa, and last years 4wd track for all to watch at Woodford.

We have cruised Mount glorious, Maleny range, Bribie Island, Noosa, Blackall range in the past.

Not sure exactly where this year but from past experience it should turn out worth while on the day.

Mt Mee State Forest is past Dayboro - its bitchumen all the way up to the first picnic area. Though the climb up the hill might excite some cars. Memories of BYB BBQ 04 with overheating issues... :?

The Tewantin/Noosa area (around Lake Cooroibah) is one I thought about suggesting - its a nice drive up there. Bit of a gallup though.

He wont be doing that this year. Have a look at the dead trees on the bank in the back ground. The water was up to there last time we were out there.
He will need flippers.

What time is the ceremony? Maybe you could take the groom-to-be on a suby cruise in the morning instead of the traditional round of golf.
