Immobiliser Issue

Post by Bivo7 » Fri Jul 08, 2011 12:00 am

Hey guys,

i have a gen2 liberty 1998 and it has genuine central locking with the button on the key. Its not working i held a digital camera up to the key and the signal is flashing from the key when the button is pushed but nothing happens, do these models have any common faults in the immobilisers ECU or sensors.

Does any one else have this problem and had it looked at?

Does any one know how to recode the key to the car?

Is there a way it could of been switched off?

Does any one have a wiring diagram of the immobilizer system that they would send me?

Any help would be great thanks!

Start with replacing the battery and go from there.

Could be a easy, cheap fix!

What are you using a digital camera for? Can it see something you can't?

Replace the battery and clean the battery contacts within the remote head.

yeah.. digi vid cameras will show up Infared signals but won't show you the strength of the signal, so my thought would be change the battery first.

Was the remote working in the past?
You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.
