Image

mounted a remote mini blade fuse holder block in the left hand rear cargo pocket
drilled the trim 6mm and opened the mount holes in the fuse block to 6mm and mounted using a couple of spare clips I had in my toolbox

Image

ran the wire under the trim down to the sill trims along to the left hand firewall grommet and around to the battery

need a fuse or circuit breaker? at the battery end

and hopefully I will be able to run my fridge

Image

and I thought I had better introduce Curly who seems to have quietly moved into my toolbox for winter ! :-)

hehe.. good point though
FROG wrote:So I got the wagon :-)
and scored a 14 litre engel for a really good price :-)
so now I want to run some wires to the back , mount a socket , fuse and switch
the fridge is rated at 0.5 - 2.5 amps , question is would 2.5mm 7 core trailer wire be up for the job? ( if Im going to run wires front to back I'd really like some extras for the future)
Glad to hear another L is saved :)

That power cable will be enough for your size fridge and items that don't run continuously for long periods of time. What is planned for the other cables in that trailer cord? I'd suggest you use 2 wires joined to supply fully time power to that fuse block.

I'd definately put a 30amp fuse at the battery end. Then put smaller sized fuses at the fuse block in the rear.

Hi Curly

Cool
So 30 amp big blade fuse at battery
Was just going to hook up two of the seven (red and brown? ) to positive battery terminal ( 30 amp fused)
Use the black wire as an earth for the fridge back to the battery negative terminal

Spares will be for my 5 yr old step daughters DVD player ( necessary for a little peace and quiet while traveling :-) ) will wire up another socket mounted in the trim again somewhere handy in passenger side (bubs side)

Yeah.. 30amp blade at the battery :)

If you're going to run the earth all the way back to the battery then I'd use 2 wire for that also.. OR IMO, use a fatter cable just to a good earth point on the body, really not needed to run back to the battery as long as you make good earth joins.

DVDs in cars would have to be the best invention for kids on long trips

Good good got the outlets coming
album.php?albumid=89&pictureid=923
(anyone know how to copy bb code on a dumb phone?)
arggggggh Image

Thanks Paul will do the negative to body with fatter wire ( makes sense )
Should I do the two wire trick for both outlets for positive ?
Ie use four of the seven wires to power two outlets ?
(leave the other three for future use)

Trudging along quietly

If the 2nd power is just to run the DVD unit then I wouldn't bother (unless you don't need all the other spare ones?) IMO, as most new units don't draw much current.

BTW.. I like those sockets.. have you got any details on them?

Yeah only ran the seven core because I had plenty I will probably make use of them
It's a dedicated camping wagon so I'm sure I will think of some thing to plug in :-)

Ive had a few say it before but not as acidic as this fella (tryton driver)
sneered at the wagon and said ' you'll never get in mate , dont bother trying"
and so I politely thanked him for his time and drove on :-D

Now, if you captured the sound it would beat the 19 min DVD I have of a burning, crackling fireplace. Actually, does beat the DVD, you have sand. water and fog!

ONE EPIC PICTURE!!!

Wish I was there! But I'm enjoying the snow too much - I just don't get to drive Ruby Scoo in the snow enough! Snow circle work is awesome, kind of line water skiing with the snow going everywhere...

Cheers
