Pre-fuelpump filter in EFI L series?

Post by Gannon » Tue May 31, 2011 5:27 pm

Im about to put the fuel pump into the RX and got thinking, is there a mesh type filter in the tank?

I had a look at the FSM, but it doesnt show one. Should i get a 3/8 plastic fuel filter and fit it before the pump so i dont get 20 years worth of crap in my new fuel pump?

The Bosch pump i put in the Brumby said warranty void if not used with an efi pre-pump filter.

I pulled my tank out of the sedan and washed out with hydochloric acid, neutralised with carb soda, washed and washed and washed. Man, if there is a prefilter in there have no idea how it is got at !

So the pickup tube is just that, a pickup tube? I would have thought there would have been at least some type of pre filter.

So, how far between the pickup tube and the bottom of the tank?

My pump has a little mesh cone in the intake JUST before the fuel is pumped. I'm guessing that's the pre pump filter...
