More like "replacement liberty". The new subaru line up is grossly oversized for what they used to be. Where they were 2 or 3 years ago is about as large a subaru should be excluding the tribeca which is meant to be large.

That's my gripe with subaru at the moment - not that I'm in the new car market...

Cheers

Finally the 6 speed is standard :p

I hope it will get dual range when it becomes standard in the forester!

Although this kinda sounds sad I have convinced my mother to buy a Subaru Impreza. She is getting the new 2012 model coming out. I cant wait to have a drive of the 6 speed manual and new engine :D

Just a sign of the times . I think the days when a 4/AWD car could weigh less than 1200 Kg are gone and its partly due to the physical size and all the so called safety features that are mandatory nowdays .
Throw in ABS/ASC/half a dozen hand bags/fast glass/6 stacker/climate air/steer/reversing camera/6 spd and its hard to see much change out of 35-40 grand and 1500 plus kg . Possibly add more for a luxo grade diseasel .

If I was after a Subie daily it would be an MY2000 RX Prezza , enough urge and not too much late model greenie weenie garbage . Good size too .

God help the owners of the late techno hellectronic bloated terors from about 80,000Ks on . Don't think you'll be servicing them at home either ...

I was thinking about this again yesterday and the thing to note is how wide cars have grown in recent years . When you drive behind later cars note how wide they are below window level . Then look down at the wheels and you can see how much trouble manufacturers go to get them out beyond the cabin area .
The result is a wide vehicle with a none too wide cabin which is not real good . If you can get near an 80 or 100 series Cruiser take note of how little actual cabin space there is in relation to their exterior dimensions .

They don't get callled landing barges for nothing .

A .
